If you had a straightforward birth, you can start gentle core and pelvic strengthening exercises and gentle cardio (like walking) straight away.

For slightly higher impact exercises, it is a good idea to wait until you have had the all clear following your 6 week post natal check up.

If you’ve had a more complicated delivery or c-section, then your recovery time will be longer and should therefore seek advice from your doctor before starting any exercise regime.

Whilst it is natural for most women to want to get rid of their baby weight asap, it is more important not to rush back into anything too vigorous and risk further set back in your recovery.
